Penelope is just one of many “pocket pets” currently available for adoption through the T. Russell Reitz Regional Animal Shelter in Manhattan, Kansas. She’s a sweet, friendly little guinea pig girl who gets on well with dogs and cats. Based on the Petfinder listings, I’m guessing that Dexter and Dudley are her sons – seeing as they were born at the shelter, and Penelope is the only adult female guinea pig in residence – but you’ll have to confirm that with the shelter.

Penelope was surrendered to the shelter because her previous owners were moving and could not take her with. She is very sweet, quiet and pretty easygoing. Penelope has been around dogs and cats and has had no problems with them. She has also been around children with no problems. Penelope is looking for that forever home with a family that will love her forever. Come meet Penelope today!

Available for adoption this week is Minnie. THE MOUSE. Minnie the mouse! Imma pause for a second so that you can fully absorb and appreciate the cuteness, mkay?

Those tiny little hand-feet! Long tickle-y whiskers! Big pink ears! Silly teefies, perfect for nibbling veggies! Seriously, is there anything about mice that isn’t heart-stoppingly adorable? Even their little droppings are charming and dainty! (Charming as long as they aren’t in my kitchen cabinets, anyhow. Nah, they’re still charming! They mean that mice are near, and I love mice!)

Okay, I’m starting to make myself sick. Let’s move on, shall we? Miss Minnie is currently staying at the T. Russell Reitz Regional Animal Shelter in Manhattan, Kansas. I know that’s a bit of a haul for you Kansas Citians, but it’s so worth it! And maybe you have family in the area you should go visit anyway? Whatever, do it! You can’t put a price on love!

Find-a-Friend Friday: Charles and Darwin

Charles (left) and Darwin (right), a pair of bicolor and albino (respectively) rats, cuddle together under a pink piece of cloth, heads peaking out with curiosity. So cute and cozy!

Oh my dog, if you’ve been following this feature for any amount of time, then I don’t have to tell you how much I adore rats! That’s right: RATS! They are cute and cuddly and curious and sweet and just full of love and fun. (Also: rainbows, unicorns and Dandies.) Unfortunately, with five dogs and two cats, I’m afraid that rats, mice, and other tiny creatures would not be long in my house, so I am relegated to cooing over them on Petfinder. And telling you to adopt them already!

Darwin and Charles are the rats of the day. Currently staying at the T. Russell Reitz Regional Animal Shelter in Manhattan, Kansas (a two-hour drive west of KCMO, right past Topeka), Darwin and Charles are two rat friends in need of a home. Tag! You’re it! (I kid, I kid. Or maybe not?)

If, for some strange reason, you are in need of further convincing, just look at these faces!

Charles (top) and Darwin (bottom) WANT TO COME HOME WITH YOU!

These guys have been naturally selected for CUTENESS – with which they will KILL YOU unless you say yes to their demands! Luckily, these primarily involve a safe, loving home, plenty of toys, and all the veggie nomz they can eat. So you’d be a fool to deny them.
