Find-a-Friend Friday: Cami

Cami the kitty.

Cami is a courtesy listing from the FMA Animal Hospital in Westwood, Kansas. Her adopted mom rescued her as a newborn kitten and now, eleven years later, has to rehome her due to unforeseen life circumstances. Cami was a patient at the animal hospital, hence their involvement. Cami is a beautiful girl who reported gets on well with everyone she meets. Can you give this sweet older lady a safe, secure home to retire to?

Domestic Short Hair Mix: An adoptable cat in Westwood, KS
Small • Adult • Female

Cami is a sweetheart of a girl who was found originally at 4 days of age and bottle fed by her current mom. Sadly, due to unforseen circumstances, her mom has been forced to move in with relatives who will not allow Cami to stay. Camis mom is a long time client of ours so we have agreed not only to board Cami at our animal hospital, but also assist in finding her a forever home. She is 11 years old, spayed, front declawed, current on vaccines and free of internal and external parasites. She is a very affectionate cat and would do well with a family who is looking for a lap cat. She has been raised around other cats, dogs and children. Please give Andrea a call at FMA Animal Hospital if you would like more info or to meet Cami. 913-262-1600

Find-a-Friend Friday: Whiskey

Whiskey, what a doll! (Not really.)
Photos courtesy of Kansas City Kansas Animal Control.

There are so many ridiculously adorable dogs available for adoption at Kansas City Kansas Animal Control (Case in point? Nala! See also: Tucker, Rachel, and Ophelia.), but Whiskey caught my eye for the simple fact that he shares a name with one of my favorite characters in the Whedonverse.*

Plus, he’s cute as all get out. Just look at that happy smile and those bright eyes!

Terrier Mix: An adoptable dog in Kansas City, KS
Small • Adult • Male

Whiskey loves people and attention and is quite a character. He is 2 years old and is a Jack Russell mix. He’s a little bigger than most JRTs and weighs around 35 pounds. Whiskey really enjoys tummy rubs and will roll over onto his back to ask for one!

Our dogs have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated and dewormed. The adoption fee for males is $57 and for females it is $67. If you live in the city of Kansas City, KS there is an additional $5 fee for a city license.

We have satellite adoption events every Friday (5-8) and Saturday (11-3) at the Olathe PetSmart at 119th & Strang Line Road. We also a second satellite adoption from 10-2 at Nebraska Furniture Mart on Saturdays. Visit our Petfinder home page for more information on this weekend’s events. If you’d like to request that we bring a particular dog to one of the events this weekend send an email to

These adoption events are part of of our Ray of Hope partnership with The Humane Society of Greater KC, which has significantly reduced the euthanasia rate in our shelter. For more info on the Ray of Hope program, visit the The Humane Society of Greater KC web site.

Find-a-Friend Friday: Cricket

Cricket the rabbit!

Happy Friday the 13th, y’all! I was going to feature a black cat in honor of the occasion, until I realized that last week’s friend (CAMPBELL!) was a blackish/brownish/dark kitty. So let’s make it a black bunny instead. Why not!

Cricket is a lionhead rabbit who was found as a stray and is currently living at the Riley County Humane Society in Manhattan, Kansas. I know, the “Little Apple” is a bit of a drive for the Kansas Citians in the house, but what’s fours hours when we’re talking true love? Besides, Cricket needs you!

Lionhead: An adoptable rabbit in Manhattan, KS
Medium • Adult • Female

Cricket is a beautiful coal black female Lionhead. She was found in a parking lot and a kind-hearted Good Samaritan saved her. She is a calm bunny who enjoys being with people and will even tolerate being picked up. RCHS rabbits live in loving foster homes where they are litterbox trained, spayed/neutered, socialized, given sufficient exercise outside of their cage, and fed a diet of grass hay and Timothy pellets to maintain a healthy weight. If you are interested in adopting this rabbit, please contact our Exotics Foster Coordinator, Amy, at

Find-a-Friend Friday: Campbell

January 6th, 2012 12:00 pm by Kelly

As with many cats, Campbell’s turn-ons include the washer and warm, freshly laundered clothes!

Campbell, what a handsome guy! Friendly and playful, but not the biggest fan of other felines. If you’re a one-cat human, Campbell just might be the guy for you!

Domestic Short Hair-Black: An adoptable cat in Merriam, KS
Medium • Adult • Male

Campbell is a very handsome short-haired, neutered male cat who is approximately 2 years old. He has a beautiful sleek black coat, and gorgeous golden eyes.

He has been in foster care for a few months now. We feel he would be happier in a home without other cats because he seems to get stressed when other cats are around.

Campbell is a very nice boy who enjoys being petted and loved on. He can get a little frisky when he’s had enough and will let you know. He likes to play with wand-type toys, and he really could use the exercise because he is getting a little chunky! He is currently being fed Science Diet Adult Lite food, and he LOVES Greenies cat treats.

Campbell is neutered, has been tested for Feline Leukemia/FIV and is negative, is current on vaccines, and has been flea treated and de-wormed. Won’t you consider giving this great guy a forever home?

An application is required prior to visiting our animals in their foster homes and to help ensure a good fit between adopter and adoptee. Please CLICK HERE to fill out an adoption application. One of our volunteers will get back to you within 24 hours. Please contact us for more info!

Divapets has a number of cats available for adoption, so even if Campbell here doesn’t strike your fancy, please consider one (or two!) of their other residents instead!

How can you say no to this face? (Answer: YOU CAN’T!)
